News : Belle Plaine man killed in Accident in Poweshiek County

A Belle Plaine man was killed in a two car collision last Thursday morning. The crash occurred in n Poweshiek County on Highway V18, north of 460th Avenue.

The Iowa State Patrol said that James Jacobi, 70, was heading south in a Pontiac Bonneville. Another driver was traveling north in a Hyundai Sonata.

The driver of the Hyundai crossed the centerline into the path of Jacobi. To try to avoid an head on collision Jacobi moved onto the shoulder of the highway.

The two vehicles collided, impacting the front driver's side of each car.

According to the crash report, Jacobi's vehicle landed facing north in the west ditch, and the other vehicle faced south in the northbound lane of the highway.

Jacobi died as a result of the crash.
