On March 8th, the Center Point-Urbana FFA chapter competed at the District FFA Convention, hosted at the Waterloo Career Center. The chapter had a strong showing, with three events qualifying for the state competition!
Leading the way was Caleigh Lewis in the FFA Creed Speaking contest, where she earned a first-place finish. Addyson Sweeney also secured a trip to state with her Chapter Website presentation, earning second place. Rounding out the state qualifiers was the Agriculture Issues team, consisting of Bella Edler, Jordynn Fink, Hannah Walvatne, Emersyn Matthiesen, and Emmalee Kratz, who placed second overall.
Beyond the state-qualifying events, several other members had outstanding performances. In the Radio Broadcast contest, Evie Kratz received a silver rating. Bella Edler's Secretary Book also earned a silver. In the Experience the Action contest, Kinze Manson, Camryn Fisher, Kaycey Fink, and Haydyn Heims received a bronze rating.
The chapter also had two members compete in the Greenhand Test, where they excelled among 72 participants. Audrey Seiler placed 2nd overall, earning gold honors, while Brynne Hite secured 18th place, also receiving gold.
The state qualifiers will compete at the 97th State FFA convention in Ames, Iowa on April 14th. Congratulations to all CPU FFA members on their achievements, and best of luck to those heading to state!
