The Vinton Police Department is proud to announce its participation in the  iPledge  Program, an initiative by the Iowa Department of Revenue  to educate retailers and enforce  Iowa ¢â‚¬â„¢s tobacco, alternative nicotine, and vapor product laws. This program is a critical step in safeguarding the health of our community, especially our youth, by ensuring compliance with state regulations.

As part of this effort, the Vinton Police Department will:

¢â‚¬ ¢  Educate Retailers:  Officers will provide local businesses with the tools and information needed to understand and adhere to laws regarding the sale of tobacco, alternative nicotine, and vapor products.
¢â‚¬ ¢  Enforce Compliance:  Through inspections and monitoring, the department will ensure that retailers  are meeting  legal standards, including prohibiting sales to individuals under the age of 21.
¢â‚¬ ¢  Promote Community Awareness:  The program highlights the importance of responsible retail practices and the role they play in protecting public health and preventing underage use of these products.

¢â‚¬Å“The Vinton Police Department is committed to fostering a healthier community by working alongside retailers to ensure they have the resources and knowledge to comply with Iowa ¢â‚¬â„¢s laws, ¢â‚¬ said  Chief Ted Paxton. ¢â‚¬Å“Together, we can make a significant impact in preventing the misuse of these products among our youth. ¢â‚¬

Retailers are encouraged to participate in the  iPledge  training program, which includes valuable information about state regulations and best practices for avoiding illegal sales.
