Watching the numbers on caucus night wasn't really that surprising. This felt like the first caucus that wasn't a nail-biter when it came to guessing who was going to win.

Stomping the other candidates in every county but Johnson County, Trump was a clear win. In Johnson County, Nikki Haley won with 1,271 votes to Trump's 1,270. That wasn't at all surprising to me. A college town with kids that are still trying to figure out life, and Trump being a bit rough around the edges for college kids, it was bound to be a tighter race there.

In Benton County, Trump won every precinct with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis bringing in 2nd place, and Nikki Haley coming in at 3rd place. Following in a distant 4th place was Vivek Ramaswamy, Ryan Binkley brought in 3 votes while Chris Christy came in with 2. Asa Hutchinson, well, he rounded it out with zero votes. Reports are coming in that Ramaswamy will now drop out of the race. Leaving it to the top three to duke it out.

Usually in these races, you might have a couple of candidates that seem to be really close in the race. This time it felt like it was either going to be Trump or it was going to be Trump.

I honestly thought that DeSantis would be much closer in the outcome than he was, but he still beat out Nikki Haley. Now Nikki Haley can ask New Hampshire to correct that.

During the 2016 election, Trump lost Iowa. So it's unsure if this bodes well for him or not. But honestly, the caucus is just the warm-up show. We'll see where things stand before the Primary in June.

While President Biden, 80, is a mere 3 years older than Trump the age difference seems to be at least a decade. I'd love to see a debate between these two. I can tell you now that it will never happen.

So there you have it.

Trump won Iowa.
