Four 4-H members from Benton County recently represented Iowa on November 14 the National 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl competition, placing third in the nation.

Team members Steiger Manson, Olivia Hanson, Josh Wiley, and William Kroneman qualified for the contest by winning the state 4-H competition in April. They traveled to Louisville, Ky. for the national contest, which was held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition.

In addition to placing third as a team, two team members were recognized in the top 10 for individual points scored. Olivia Hanson placed sixth in individual points and Steiger Manson placed tenth.

Their trip was supported by Iowa 4-H, Benton County Friends of 4-H, and the team's own fundraising activities.

Manson is the son of Jeff and Robin Manson of Walker. Hanson is the daughter of Bob and Maureen Hanson of La Porte City. Wiley is the son of Todd and Denise Wiley of Walker. Kroneman is the son of Keith and Bonnie Kroneman of Luzerne. The team was coached by Maureen Hanson.
