News : VRD announces new Open Skate Hours and other events

Parks and Recreation Director Matt Boggess put a video out announcing several new and exciting changes in the Parks and Recreation Department.

A new reservation policy and procedure will take place beginning January 1, 2024. You will now be able to rent the facilities online on the website which can be found at www.vprdzone.com.

There will be new Skating Hours will be from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sundays allowing for more private party rentals. These hours will also begin January 1st.

The department will finally be able to drive a new pickup! If you remember back in June of 2021, the department was hit by vandalism. Not only was the playground hit, but their truck was destroyed. With the insurance settlement, the department's fleet of vehicles will finally be made whole again! It will be the new shiny truck among the fleet of other vehicles which range from 10 to 20+ years old. So if you see them out in the new truck, give them a big wave!

Just a reminder that Santa will be at the Skate Center this Saturday. Don't forget to sign up to have Breakfast with Santa. If you can sign up ahead of time, that will help the department have enough food on hand. Again, go to their website at the link above.

Sign up for the Pickleball Season is also underway. There are leagues for Beginners, a Competitive League, Women's League and Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter is for anyone who would like to play. You will be assigned a new partner each week.
