At a balmy 61 degrees, it was a pleasant night to watch the Christmas floats pass by. The various organizations and businesses along with the Vinton Fire Department came out to escort Santa into Vinton to kick off the Christmas season.
Santa visited with children in the courthouse following the parade. The best photo of Santa with his visitors was a selfie. Those of us that could be the grandparents to the trio in the photo, found that amusing. Gone are the days of a roll of film, even of mom and dad taking the pictures. We have graduated to selfies, and that got a hearty ho,ho,ho from Santa!
The adorable pictures of the children sharing their wish lists with Santa can be seen here!
This Sunday, the downtown will host various events as the area businesses will host open houses from 12-4:00 p.m. Various deals, and Christmas specials will be ready to help kick off your Christmas shopping.
A big thank you to those who pulled out all the stops to make the parade possible, what an awesome job! Thank you to the elves who decorated the courthouse and hosted Santa and the various Veteran organizations who organized the parade.
A special thank you to Greg Walston for coordinating with Santa and arranging travel plans with the reindeer!
