Labor Day was not a good day for drivers in the area. Starting the day off there was an accident off of the 380 and 330th St. just over the Benton County line into Buchanan County near Brandon.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office reported that "at approximately 6:25 a.m., the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office received several 911 reports of a motor vehicle accident on 330th Street near I-380, east of Brandon. Callers reported a vehicle that had gone off the roadway from I-380 onto 330th Street below and burst into flames. Sheriff's Deputies and multiple other emergency personnel responded. At this time, there is one confirmed fatality."

330th Street was closed underneath I-380, but I-380 and the entrance and exit ramps for I-380 at 330th Street remained open. This closure lasted for a few hours as the incident was investigated and the scene cleaned up. VIDEO

Later in the day at the corner of 13th St. and Highway 218 in Vinton, the Kwik Star corner, a second car accident happened. A gray Pontiac G6 sedan was hit by a silver Jeep Liberty in the driver's side door. The car came to rest on the east side of highway 218 in the ditch of the former Braille school property.

No information is available on the drivers of this accident.
