For those in the adult world, trash day means a day of dragging the garbage can and or the recycle bin to the road. Just another thing on the to-do list.
However, for the children in the care of Jess Dulin, it's exciting. She said for most people when it's Monday it simply means the start of another wee. But to the kids in her care, it means TRASH DAY!!!!
The second week that S & J Sanitation made its stop at the Dulin home, the driver had a surprise waiting for him. The kids all lined up to bring a treat to the curb and wait anxiously for the garbage man to appear.
Now, as soon as the garbage man sees them waiting, he starts honking the horn.
When the cans have been emptied, the kids hurry over to take a treat to the garbage man and sometimes, he has a little something to give them in return.
The kids take this opportunity in their small way to simply say, "Thank you" and brighten the day of the driver. It's unclear which side of the curb gets more of a kick out of this routine,
As for Dulin, she said, "Talk about small-town service!"
Hats off to Jess and all the kiddos and to S & J Sanitation!
