Bethlehem Lutheran Church celebrated 110 years of ministry on June 10, 2023. For over a century Bethlehem has served as a mission outpost; offering a place to gather and worship in the Lutheran tradition and a place to gather to serve others, here in Vinton, Benton County, and the world.

Members at Bethlehem cherish their Swedish roots, having started as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Bethlehem congregation as part of the Augusta Synod, based in Rock Island, Illinois. Over the years we have gathered and celebrated members from all over the world; those with historic ties to the Lutheran church and those who are new to the Lutheran tradition.

Our mission focus highlights the needs of Vinton and the needs of the county seat, including partnering with Lutheran Services in Iowa, one of the largest social service providers in the state to house a family therapist here in Vinton during the week.

We will remember with praise and thanksgiving 110 years of ministry and to pray for continuing vibrancy and impact on the lives of our neighbors for the sake of Jesus Christ. Please join us for worship with the Bishop of the Southeastern Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Reverend Amy Current as well as a presentation reflecting Bethlehem's past and future as well as a meal.

Festivities are on Sunday, August 20, 2023 with worship at 9:00 am, the presentation following worship and the meal starting at 11:00 am. We look forward to celebrating and invite you to be a part of our day.
