News : Information for those who need a cooling station this afternoon

Please check on your friends and especially the elderly or those with breathing issues this week. Make sure they are all in a cool location and aren't trying to "tough it out" with broken air conditioning or without fans.

Due to the extreme temperatures this week, the old Revolution Church currently known as The Well, located at 417 1st Ave in Vinton will be open for individuals who need a cool place to hang out.

From Wednesday, July 26 through Friday, July 28th, the building will be open from 1:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. (Note: Local stations have reported that the building would be open on Saturday, but there are no plans for that.)

A Heat Advisory has been issued for our area:

WHAT

Heat index values between 100 to 105 are expected with little reprieve in the humid conditions.

WHERE

Portions of north central, northwest and west central Illinois, east center and southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri

WHEN

Until 9 p.m. Thursday

IMPACTS

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illness to occure
