There are many tasks that the water department attends to. One that I never thought about was the upkeep of the fire hydrants.

To be honest I've never spent a lot of time thinking about fire hydrants at all. Not their color nor the fact that they need to be painted. Until right in front of me, a hydrant was getting its new coat of paint.

Then I noticed a lot of hydrants along C Ave. were looking brand spanking new sporting their bright red and yellow. The colors make them pop and easy to see by the fire department. (Not to mention that the paint keeps them from rusting!)

To the guys in the Water Department thanks for the tasks that you do, even when no one notices, most of the time.
