The premier agritourism destination in eastern Iowa and one of the state's largest child welfare agencies are partnering to celebrate Four Oaks' 50th Anniversary.
Later this fall the Bloomsbury Farm, Four Oaks and Chelsea's Dream Foundation will host a Foster Family Day. The event will also serve as Four Oaks' anniversary celebration event for staff.
Thanks to the generosity of Chelsea's Dream Foundation, many local foster families will be able to join the celebration. The foundation's sponsorship will provide for the admission of 200 families that will be attending the late September Event.
Four Oaks began in 1973 in a small house in Bertram, Iowa under the name Boys Acres. For the 50th year event, the organization felt it would be proper to celebrate alongside the children and families it serves at one of the most popular rural destinations in the area.
Four Oaks is now headquartered in Cedar Rapids and is one of the state's largest welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health agencies. For more information visit www.fouroaks.org
Bloomsbury Farm was homesteaded in 1856. Dave Petersen is the 5th generation to take over the farm. Along with his wife Karen the two started the agri-tourism business in 1994. Daughters Jessica and Samantha are also a big part of the business. In years since, it has served as a destination for thousands of Eastern Iowans each year who want to get away from the city lights and take in a beautiful, living, breathing farm.
