On Monday, February 20th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter sent several contests to the Southwest Sub-District Competitions at AEA 267 in Cedar Falls. They sent members in multiple contests including Conduct of Chapter Meetings, Parliamentary Procedure, Chapter Program of Activities, Creed Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Ag Sales, Ag Broadcasting, Prepared Public Speaking, and Job Interview. Results are as follows:

Conduct of Chapter Meetings: Andrew Allsup, Will McKenna, Cooper McClintock, Ben McGowan, Eli Ollinger, Ben Buhr, and Wes McKenna for Conduct - Receiving 2nd, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Parliamentary Procedure: Izzie Birker, Alana Fleming, Spencer Williams, Megan Schlitter and Rachel Rollinger - Receiving 1st, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Chapter program of Activities: Paul Herger, Mac Goodell, and Grace Schminke - Receiving 2nd, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Creed Speaking: Calhen Christenson - Receiving 1st, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Extemporaneous Speaking: Josh Wiley - Receiving 4th, Silver. 

Ag Sales: Andrew Pingenot - Receiving 2nd, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Ag Broadcasting: Jazmyn Dods - Receiving 1st, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Prepared Public Speaking: Annabelle Newton - Receiving 1st, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

Job Interview: Kelcie Appleby - Receiving 2nd, Gold and Advanced to Districts. 

After all the contests were done the chapter went to Raising Canes for a celebratory meal. Chapter member Spencer Williams went on to say "Even though it was stressful to prepare and wait for our chance, it was so much fun to go compete and show off what we've worked hard for. I think the number of competitions that advanced showed off all of the work put in by our talented members."
