On February 10th, 2023 the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter held their annual spaghetti dinner. They had a meal including spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, lettuce salad, cookies, and lemonade. This is the chapter's third year hosting this event and was another successful year. Two-time noodle-maker of the year, Andrew Brummer worked hard in the kitchen perfecting his craft.
The meal was a free-will donation fundraiser to help fund chapter activities. Many members of the chapter were able to attend and help serve their community members and guests.
Since it was hosted right during a basketball game they were also able to serve guests from out of town as well. The chapter served about 180 meals with sit-down or take-out options. Four-time server of the year, Elijah Blix enjoyed cleaning tables and visiting with patrons during their meal.
The chapter was able to receive around $1,950 from donations for this activity. Greenhand member, Alexa Henkle, said "For my first spaghetti dinner this was a great experience. Seeing the community come together to support our organization was definitely eye-opening, especially to see how much support we get from the community. This organization is so much fun in so many ways and I can't wait for what's yet to come!"
