On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Board voted, making the difficult decision to cancel flight #45. Unfortunately, due to a plane malfunction in the early morning hours, the flight would have been delayed by at least 3 hours. A delayed agenda would have greatly impacted the Honor Flight experience, forcing several memorial visits to be eliminated and others shortened.

"An abbreviated itinerary is not the experience our veterans deserve," states Eastern Iowa Honor Flight President, Jason Brandon. "Our Board made a difficult decision to cancel today's trip to Washington D.C. to ensure that these 90 veterans share in the same full experience as the veterans on the 44 flights that have made the trip before them."

The cancellation of today's Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will also impact the Welcome Home celebration that was planned for this evening.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Board is working to reschedule Honor Flight #45 as soon as possible. All veterans and guardians will be contacted when a solution is in place. The organization thanks you for your patience and understanding.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is an entirely volunteer organization which does not receive any government funding.
