On September 21, 2022 at approximately 12:50 PM, the Benton County Sheriff's Department received a report of a two-vehicle accident at 23rd avenue and 76th street near Blairstown.
The accident involved a Benton Community School District bus and an SUV. The school bus was occupied by nine students and the bus driver. Of the nine students, three were transported by ambulance for evaluation at a local hospital. The remaining students and bus driver were transported by personal vehicle or released to a parent or guardian. The extent of the injuries is currently unknown. No injuries were believed to life- threatening.The driver of the SUV was also transported by ambulance for evaluation.Any names of the individuals involved are being withheld at this time. Agencies assisting with the accident include Blairstown Fire Department, Blairstown Ambulance, Area Ambulance. Belle Plaine Ambulance, Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa County Ambulance, Benton Community School District Administration.The accident remains under investigation
