Vinton Unlimited held their Annual 2-Person Best-Shot Golf Tournament last Friday at the Vinton Country Club. The event was open to anyone who wanted to participate. A total of 66 golfers teamed up for this fun event which was the maximum number that could participate.
Each of the Vinton Country Club's nine holes were sponsored by local businesses that spiced up the course with a mishmash of fun and entertaining games and prizes. These sponsors were Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, Lutheran Home Communities, Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics, Koop's Sales & Service, Cedar Valley Bank & Trust, Fareway, Ervin Motor Company, Farm Bureau Financial Services- Teresa Meyer, and Custom Millwork & Finishing.
Golfers had a chance to vote for the hole they thought was the best "Crowd Pleaser". The winning hole sponsor for the "Crowd Pleaser" award went to Custom Millwork & Finishing who sponsored Hole #9.
The tournament was divided into five flights, each with a first, second, and third placed golf team. First place teams received $60, second place teams received $40, and the third place teams received $20, all prizes were given in Vinton Value Dollars which can be spent at participating local businesses. The winners of the flights were as follows:
First Flight:
- 1st Place team: Leroy Staker and Steve Stulken
- 2nd Place team: Todd Bohnsack and Austin Bohnsack
- 3rd Place team: Shane Scott and Chris Boddicker
Second Flight:
- 1st Place team: Tom Lindauer and Ryan Allsup
- 2nd Place team: Mark Elwick and Melissa Elwick
- 3rd Place team: Mark Wilberg and Deb Wilberg
Third Flight:
- 1st Place team: Scott Wood and Jeff Wood
- 2nd Place team: Cyanna Boggess and Matt Boggess
- 3rd Place team: Pat Lyons and Jeff Flemming
Fourth Flight:
- 1st Place team: Tanner Davis and Dave Coulter
- 2nd Place team: Connie Peterson and Jane Schminke
- 3rd Place team: Dan McKenna and Marla Sutton
Fifth Flight:
- 1st Place team: Brian Elwick and Cyrus Elwick
- 2nd Place team: Doug Cook and Erika Hodgson
- 3rd Place team: Mark Redlinger and Jenny Redlinger
In addition to the flight prizes and several prizes and gifts from the hole sponsors, there were several items donated by local businesses that were also raffled off. These businesses were: All American Handyman-Scott Wood, Brickside Brew-N-Chew, Cameron's Clothing, Clipper Corner, Dollar Fresh, Flowers by Nature's Corner, Henkle Creek Mercantile, Horst Physical Therapy, IMCA Racing, LaGrange Pharmacy, Michael & Dowd Furniture, Pizza Ranch, Tactical Creations, The Niche, Tootsie's Ice Cream & More, Viking Plaza, and Viking Sewing Center.
