Nearly 40 Special Olympians and their Unified partners competed at the Vinton Skate and Activity Center as part of the 2022 Special Olympics Iowa Unified Golf Tour.  Teams traveled from Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Vinton, and Anamosa to enjoy a perfect day on the mini links. The course was in perfect shape thanks to VPRD. Teams included Goodwill of Waterloo, Discovery Living from Cedar Rapids, Jones County and the Cedar Valley Ranch and VSU from Vinton.

Competitors took home an event t-shirt and Bronze, Silver and Gold medals for their efforts. Stanley Roofing sponsored a lunch served up by Merchant's Grilling, and Brian Larkin, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Hedges was the Facility Sponsor. The event wouldn't have been possible without the cast of volunteers including Kelli and Ricky Soquet and sons Blake and Blaze from Mt. Auburn, Larry and Sharon Koster from Blairstown, Sara Larkin of Robins, Mike Cline from Cedar Rapids, and Chris Lacey and his son Wesley from Vinton.  This is the 7th year the event has been held in Vinton, and the folks from out of town were very impressed with the facility and said they'd be back to play the course again with their friends!
