My name is Annabelle Newton, daughter of Chad and Kim Newton. I have one sister, Sophia, that is 13. My family and I live outside of Vinton on a small family farm. I am a junior at Vinton-Shellsburg High School. While my plans for after graduation are still undecided, I hope to attend a university to study business or physical therapy.

Within the community, I have been a part of the Jackson Better Farmers 4-H Club for 8 years, and have exhibited swine, rabbit, and static projects during this time as well as holding several offices. This led me to be a part of the Benton County Youth Council for the last three years. I have also had the opportunity to expand my involvement throughout the county while serving as the 2021 Benton County Fair Princess.

Within my three years at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School, I have been involved in a variety of groups. I have run track and cross country throughout high school, where I have received varsity letters every year, as well as academic achievement awards. In addition, I have made Honor Roll every semester throughout high school. I am currently a member of the school's National Honor Society and have been a part of the Student Senate in the past. I am also heavily involved in FFA where I have been a part of various chapter events, service projects, and contests up to the state level. I have had the honor of serving the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter as Co-Reporter, President, and will be returning as the chapter President for the 2022-23 school year. I have also taken my leadership to the district level, where I am serving as the 2022-23 Northeast District Reporter.
