News : Welcome to the NEW Vinton Today

Tada! WELCOME to the new look of Vinton Today!

This is the first in a few steps to getting Vinton Today to where we want it. The next thing to happen, won't affect you, you won't see it, you'll only notice it if something goes wrong. Next the "back end," the place where I spend all of my time loading stories, and ads, and "fixing things" will be reconstructed.

We have a few more things to add to the front of the website, but those won't be completed until the back end is done. I can't wait!

Do you remember the joke from when you were a child that said, "What's black and white and red/read all over?" The answer was "A Newspaper!" Well, now it can have a new ending, "Vinton Today!"

This time we gave the website a classic look, stripping down all of the busyness of the last site, condensing and giving the site a more sleek look. If you'll notice my favorite part, well one of them, the ads now fade into the next ad, and for those of you who are seeing impaired, there should be a better description on some of the store ads giving you an idea of what the ad says and who it's from. Not ALL of the ads have been updated, but from now on, any new ad will be a bit more descriptive.

The Classified section has been eliminated as it wasn't used often enough to keep it.

The menu bar has also been moved into a tab at the top labeled "Pages," rather than the lengthy list of categories that used to run down the side.

Another feature the last website did not have is that it is now mobile friendly. If you have a device that is not working, zap me a note at VintonToday@hotmail.com. Let me know what device you are on and we'll see what we can do. (You may need to refresh your page!) To find the menu, click on the "sandwich" bar. It looks like this:

Also new to the website is the donation tab. PayPal used to be the venue that Vinton Today used, but when they take a cut out of every donation and there's another option out there that doesn't, well duh! So Venmo is now set up to accept donations. Of course, if you prefer to send a check, those are also accepted. Just mail those to Vinton Today, P.O. Box 7, Vinton, Iowa 52349.
