News : Area family injured in head-on collision

Kristin Beard and her children were traveling on Highway 150, just west of Urbana when they were involved in a head-on collision on Wednesday. Fortunately, the family survived with non-life-threatening injuries. The oldest son Carter has a badly broken arm and is in surgery at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Kristin has a broken ankle and is waiting for surgery at the UIHC.
Kristin cleans houses for a living and is unable to work for at least 6 weeks while she recovers. Husband, Marcus is an electrician at ADM in Cedar Rapids, but in the last couple of months, Marcus had to have surgery requiring him to be off work since then. Because of the circumstances, friends are asking for help in covering expenses for the family.

As of Wednesday morning the two have had surgery and are recovering.
