On Saturday morning, the area AMVETS (American Vets), VFW & Auxiliary dedicated a new flag that was installed at John's Qwik Stop. When arriving in Vinton via C Ave. you will see the flag peeking over the top of the houses.

Denny Miller, Commander of the AMVETS presented the call to colors followed by Dale Henry who read the following poem:
"Oh Flag of Our Union

O flag of our Union,

To you, we'll be true,

To your red and white stripes,

And your stars on the blue,

The emblem od freedom,

The symbol of right,

We children salute you,

O flag fair and bright."

The AMVETS and VFW are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the flag as well as replacing the flag when needed. They also lower the flag to half staff when it is ordered.

Present at the raising of the flag were Dave Dodds, Dale Henry and Ron Albright.

The national anthem was played while the flag was raised for the first time, followed by the pledge of allegiance by all those present.

John's Qwik Stop has just finished installing the new car wash. Just a reminder that even though it's winter, you can still take your car through the car wash and it has the option to have it dried at the end with the blow dryer. So yes, you can arrive for Christmas with the car sparkling!
