One of my favorite things to do is to capture Santa with all of the kids at Christmas. It is always fun to watch the mouths drop open as Santa addresses a lot of the kids by name. The kids often comment to their mom or dad, "He knows my name!" It's even funnier when the adults aren't sure who he is and have to ask.

I had that question last week. "Who's playing Santa? He knew me but I didn't know who he was..." Well duh, it was Santa! Who else would be playing Santa?

That's when you know we have a great Santa.

Many of the local children got to see Santa this year, minus the usual sitting on his lap and telling him their wishes. I had talked to Santa earlier this week and he was disappointed that he wouldn't be able to do that this year. He really, really wanted to wish the children a Merry Christmas and he wasn't sure how he was going to do that without arriving in the parade.

But he found a way to greet the children at the Chili supper.

So Santa, thank you for putting smiles on the faces of children that have had their little worlds turned upside down this year in a world where nothing feels quite right. Thanks for doing your job so well and thanks for giving them a bit of normal!
