We might be in the middle of a pandemic and things are not as they are supposed to be, but one man didn't let that stop him.

Chad Newton has played Taps for the Mt. Auburn Legion since he was 16 or 17 his mom Teddi said. But she was sure than he didn't play this year until I shared the photo above of him with her.

Craig Gingrich was at the Mt. Auburn cemetery with his family decorating some of the graves there when they heard "Taps" being played. He said that they were the only ones in the cemetery and that the gesture brought tears to their eyes as they removed their hats and put their hands on their heart as they turned toward the flag.

Newton was there like he is every Memorial Day. Gingrich said of the gesture, "What a gift to experience in the wake of the pandemic."

Thank you Chad for your dedication to our service men and women.
