It's Teacher Appreciation Week.

These are the folks making your education work in a situation we've never seen, thanks for going above, and beyond in figuring how to make it work this year.

Sunday is Mother's Day.

For those who work and are now teaching at home, it's not easy, but like every other challenge you face juggling schedules and children, you as usually have this.

It's also Correctional Officer Appreciation Week

Men and women who serve in our jail are often folks that no one recognizes, well, unless you are a frequent flyer there. These are the people that we don't see but are also important to our community. Thanks, everyone who works in the jail, in the various jobs to make sure the rest of us can walk safely down the street.

Later in the month, it's Police Officer Week

Our men and women in uniform can never be thanked enough. These are the ones that come running to aid us in the worst times of our lives. Thank you for all that you do!

It's Nurse Appreciation Month, as well as Midwife Appreciation Month.

In this pandemic, it's been blatantly clear how important our nurses are. Thank you, men and women, for caring for us all year long, but thank you most importantly for working in this scary time and taking care of the most vulnerable and sick among us.

Don't forget to thank your school board members as well, it's their week as well!

These men and women are the honest that weed through stacks and stacks of paperwork and make the best decisions for our children. From the hiring of teachers to making sure the buses have what they need to run down the roads. Thanks for all that you do!

Just out of curiosity I googled to see if there is a "world press day" it's also this month, who knew!

Maybe it would just be easier to let everyone in your world know that they are indeed special and a vital part of the fabric of our society.

So to those mentioned, and to those that aren't being recognized as an official "thanks for doing what you do" position this month, thanks anyway. It's in times like this that we really do understand the importance of every single person. So thanks, just for being you, and thanks for doing what you do every day!
