Mr. Murray served cookies to the nearly 450 students after they earn 7,500 Viking Spirit tickets

If you stopped at Tilford Elementary on Thursday, you weren't dreaming, everyone really did wear their pajamas to school. It happens, sometimes. Well, it happens when about 450 children are challenged to earn 7,500 Viking Spirit tickets, and they do it in around a month.

Tilford Elementary works really hard to encourage their children in several different ways. Below is the vision and goals of the Tilford staff:

Our Vision: As a result of implementing PBIS, Tilford Elementary staff will promote a positive culture with behavior supports to create an optimal learning environment. The PBIS system is driven by data and supports a positive culture while providing training and tools to encourage expected behavior.

We know that rethinking traditional discipline is the key to success in promoting a positive culture and ultimately student success! As educators, we understand the importance of teaching social expectations. We are using Viking Spirit Tickets to reinforce safe, responsible and respectful behaviors.

Teachers have been working diligently to provide individual and classroom rewards. Examples are eating lunch in the classroom, sitting at the teacher's desk, electronics day, extra recess time and the list goes on. Tilford's students have been working to earn 7,500 Viking Spirit tickets which will earn them hot cocoa, cookie and pajama day.

So the next time you see some funny pictures from the school, know that the staff and students are working diligently to teach while having a bit of fun!
