News : If you are the victim of a Vehicle Burglary on Christmas Eve contact the Sheriff

On 12-24-2019, at about 10:00 PM, The Benton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a reckless driver on Hwy 30 near 30th Ave. The vehicle reported to have been driving recklessly was reported to have turned south towards Norway IA. A check of the license plate given showed the vehicle to have been reported stolen.

Benton County Deputies would later locate the vehicle in Norway IA, and the suspects would attempt to elude Deputies, a brief vehicle chase ensued. The suspects would abandon the vehicle and flee on foot. 2 suspects were eventually captured, the 3rd suspect escaped, but was identified.

The vehicle used by the suspects was confirmed stolen, and Deputies would discover that the 3 suspects were involved in at least 3 vehicle burglaries in Norway IA.

All three suspects were juvenile males from Cedar Rapids IA. Charges included Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Interference with Official Acts. More charges are anticipated to be filed.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office asks that anyone who was the victim of a vehicle burglary in Norway on 12-24-19, who has not reported the crime to please contact the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
