The Vinton Police Department asked for the community's help to raise money for their 2nd Annual Holiday With A Cop event. The goal was to raise $110 for each child that will be participating.

The Vinton Police Department decided to serve the community at Pizza Ranch, accepting donations and earning 7% of the sales from the evening.

And the town showed up.

Donating over $7,000 the Vinton Police Department got out their traffic whistles and said, "STOP!"

With the overwhelming response, the Vinton PD was able to treat children from Benton Community as well as Belle Plaine.

Helping with the event at Theisen's on Monday night along with the Vinton Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's office the Belle Plaine Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, officers from the DNR assisted with the Holiday with a Cop event helping the children to shop for what they need and might want at the local Theisen's store.

The Vinton Police Department said, "A very special thank you to Officer Katie Schimerowski who could not make it tonight due to an illness. Officer Schimerowski did most of the footwork in putting this event together and even shopped for all the smaller kiddos on her own after speaking to parents of what their kids' needs were."

Well done officers!
