Amelia Faith Birker signed her letter of intent to run cross country and track for the RedTails of Hawkeye Community College on Wednesday.

Her coach, Tyler Mulder serves as the head coach for Hawkeye's track and field and cross country teams. He is joining the staff fresh off his own professional running career with the Nike Oregon Track Club. Mulder was an eight-time NCAA All-American at the University of Northern Iowa, going on to run professionally for Nike from 2009 to 2016.

Mulder is from Orange City, Iowa, and graduated from Unity Christian High School. He took his talents to UNI and had a remarkable career (2005-2009). He holds the UNI school records in the 800M, 1000M, 4x4 relay, Sprint Medley Relay, and Distance Medley Relay. Along with his All-American achievements, he also was an 11-time Missouri Valley Conference champion and the 2008 NCAA indoor champion.

After Mulder's stellar collegiate career, he had the chance to run for Nike Oregon Track Club in Eugene, Oregon. His primary event was the 800M. In 2008 and 2012, Mulder placed fourth at the Olympic trials qualifier. In 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, he was a USA Champs finalist, in addition to getting 4th place in the 2011 Pan Am games. His personal bests are 1:44.34 in the 800M, 3:42.53 in the 1,500M, and 3:57.37 in the mile.

Several of her family members attended the signing. Her parents said they are excited to see where she goes on her journey, congratulations Amelia!
