The Local Lions Club held its annual Chili Supper to help support the Eastern Iowa Honor Flights. As attendees came in to enjoy a bowl of chili they were also supporting the effort with their donation.
Eastern Iowa Honor Flights has taken a total of 3,435 veterans to Washington D.C. giving them an opportunity to see the various memorials built in their honor.
38 flights have taken off carrying the veterans departing from the Eastern Iowa Airport early in the morning and returning early in the evening of the same day. The program has grown into a day long event and support for our military.
Following the Chili Supper, Santa arrived during the annual Patriotic Christmas Parade. Bringing his well know ho-ho-ho and lots of laughter to the children, he visited with close to 100 children inside of the courthouse following the parade.
Santa had the privilege of receiving a lot of hugs and listening to all of the wishes from simply candy to pets. Each child posed for their picture and received a candy cane from Santa.
The jolly St. Nick will begin his rounds at various locations throughout the town this season. Here is a link to pics of the parade and Santa's visit.
