I think the weatherman said that we hadn't seen snow on Halloween since the 1990's, so I guess we were due.

Several children started their night out at the Blessed Hope parking lot where they made the rounds of all the trunks for a treat. One offered coffee for the adults to stay warm! The church also grilled hot dogs and served them along with water and chips to the families as they made their way through the line.

The youth group also made a haunted church bus where the kids handed out candy as the children walked down the aisle. The bus was complete with a fog machine adding to the spookiness.

Wesley United Methodist also offered activities and food along with a photo booth and candy.

Tootsie's Ice Cream and More also handed out ice cream to the children who arrived in a costume. Vinton Today had word that Shane Delay as Captain American would be there so we stopped to get his picture (hey, that's the story we told him, go with it!).

In other parts of town, children made their way through Windsor Manor, the Lutheran Home and Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab and still found time to hit the streets.

Here are photos of the evening.
