Saturday, the Izaak Walton League was humming with activity which started early in the morning and ran into the afternoon, the annual Jakes Day was underway.

Open to all Jakes (Junions Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship for ages 17 and under) various events were held just north of Vinton.

The group participated in several outdoor activities, instruction, and coaching, including safety review, shooting .22 rifles, trap shooting, archery, trapping, and game calling.

The group were able to see a live hawk and handler who spoke to the group and demonstrated what falconry is all about.

The free event is held each summer but the Izaak Walton League.
