News : Chief and officers challenge kids in Shellsburg

Local officers had a bit of fun at Shellsburg Elementary Challenging the Chief

As part of the Decat Community Partnership program for protecting children,the Chief Challenge made a couple stops in the Vinton - Shellsburg schools this summer.

Sheriff Ron Tippett, Officers Josh West, Shelby James and Justin Coshow all made the trip to Shellburg so that the kids could "Challenge the Chief" there following lunch at the school.

Competing with kids while wearing their gear gave the officers a bit of an unfair advantage, but both the officers and children enjoyed the goodhearted fun together.

These are the things our officers don't "have to do" but these are the fun things they choose to do for our children. The next time you see an officer, tell them, "Thank you." If you see some of the behind the scenes workers that work in the jail, or dispatch or anything related to our law enforcement tell them thanks as well!
