If you have children at home during the day, the Benton County Conservation Nature Center is the place to visit.

The Nature Center offers various events throughout the year for little children to enjoy.

This past week, they held a little class about Crayfish.

The school had done a study on them and offered the crayfish to the nature center, for their use.

Caitlin Savage, as always, did a wonderful job entertaining and teaching the children about Crayfish.

The children learned a little song about the crayfish and played a game pretending to hide crayfish in their burrows. Explaining that their homes can sometimes be up to 3 feet deep, she held a yardstick up to measure the children so that they could see the depth of the burrows.

Later the children all had a chance to hold the crayfish. Carefully avoiding the pinschers the boys were thrilled to dive in and hold the crayfish, while the girls were a little hesitant to touch them, at first, but soon they all warmed to the idea.
