If you drove past Theisen's last night and noticed the 5 police cars in the parking lot, and then stepped inside to see all the uniforms, you might think there was something bad happening. But you'd be wrong. There were lots of things right happening. "Holiday with a Cop" kicked off at Theisen's on Wednesday night. Kids were paired with an officer, to shop for warm clothing as well as some toys to make the Christmas season more jolly. There were a total of 41 children and plenty of officers to accompany the children as they shopped. The plan was to raise enough so each child could spend a little over $100 each. Now while talking to various police officers, none would take credit for putting this program together. All passing the buck. But there was one officer that took her day off to raise funds for the event. A special thanks to Officer Katie for going the extra mile. The Vinton Police Department issued a statement saying, "The Vinton Police Department would like to thank all of the community members and businesses that made it possible to sponsor 41 children this year. Without all of you, "Holiday with a Cop" would not have been possible. We would like to thank: Cameron Clothing, Chris and Melissa Ward, Christina Hendryx, Clingman Pharmacy Clipper Corner, Cooling Dance Center, Deb Schimerowski, ECHO Ministries, Ehlinger's, Ervin Motor Company employees in honor of Keith and Kathie Ervin and Bill and Roxanne Ervin, Farmers Savings Bank, Geiger Properties LLC, Jennifer and Jay Miller, John and Colleen Karrick, John and Deb Ketchen, John's Quick Stop, Johnson Real Estate, Juanita Hargrave, Therapeutic Massage - Judy Meyer, Karr Properties, Kim Howe-Rouse, LaGrange Pharmacy, Lori Siela, New Beginniings Salon, Nick's TV and Appliance, Pella Roofing and insulation, Rick and Pam Parmater, RJ Ender Computers, Shopko, Steve and Michelle Bruce, Tactical Creations, the Paxton Family, The Mall, Three Rivers Insurance, Todd and Kellie Van Ree, Tom Richtsmeier, Trent Mcatee, US Bank, Vinton Kiwanis Club and Wilson-Hite Insurance, Katie Schimerowski, Alex Gutierrez.
