Spaghetti for breakfast?

Why not?

Pasta was the main dish Wednesday for the latest gathering of the Snap, Crackle and Pop Club at The Church of Grace in Shellsburg. Pastor Brian Reeves, his wife Christina and several area residents gathered in the church office at 9 for the weekly event.

The goal of the event is to be a community outreach, says Pastor Reeves. Everyone is invited for a variety of activities. This week, Doug Schwandt sang some of his favorite gospel songs. Other weeks include movies, bingo, conversation or other activities. “We always have food and sweet treats,” says the pastor.

There is also a Snap, Crackle and Pop, Jr., event for children ages 10-15, from 1-3 p.m. each Wednesday. The name of the group comes from the fact that it was originally set up for senior citizens; it refers to the noises and aches and pains associated with older individuals, says the pastor with a laugh.

Music at the Park

The church has also been sponsoring Music at the Park, with singing the third Saturday of each month throughout the summer. The final one of the season will be Sept. 21, from 6-8 p.m. There will also be walking tacos for participants.
