News : Vinton man charged with sending obscene material to minors

On February 21, 2018, the Vinton Police Department received a report that Lyle Arthur Fowler, age 43, of Vinton, had been communicating with underage girls and requesting nude photographs of them via cell phones and social media. A subsequent investigation found evidence of inappropriate communications between Fowler and two minor females. Fowler is alleged to have sent photographs of his genitals to the same two minor females who he also allegedly knew were under the age of 18. Two criminal complaints were subsequently filed against Fowler for the following offense: Dissemination & Exhibition of Obscene Material to Minors (Two Counts) Serious Misdemeanor, section 728.2 of the Code of Iowa. Fowler was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Benton County Jail on April 11, 2018. Hewas released from custody after posting bond on April 12, 2018. An arrest or criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant(s) is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
