News : VFW plans dinner/silent auction to raise funds for Gualtier documentary

The VFW Auxiliary 8884 of Vinton is planning a lasagna supper fund-raiser for the completion of the documentary on local WWII veteran John Gualtier to help the Thaler Holocaust Memorial Fund and producer Brent Watkinscomplete the film about Gualtier'sservice during WWII and his eyewitness accounts of concentration camps as he became one of the first Americans to witness the Holocaust in person. The mealbe a Lasagna/Garlic Bread/ tossed salad/cake dinner open to the public, on Saturday June 17th, 2017 at The Vinton American Legion Hall in Vinton (105 N R AVE), from 4PM to 7PM. There will also be a silent auction with many items. "We need all items forthe Silent Auction by Monday, June 5," says Jeanette Henry. "This way we know how much table room we need for the items and to get the silent auction papers ready for each item." The response has been great so far, says Henry.
