The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the playground area at Kiwanis Park has been recently been updated with new amenities that are designed for the younger youth.

The new equipment including spring riders, a spinner seat and a play structure that has many pieces with a cool slide was installed at the park by Brian Elwick, VPRD Parks Maintenance and Facility Foreman and seasonal staff.

This equipment was made possible by the funds given to the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department by the Vinton Kiwanis Club and the Dr. Pepper/7 UP Bottling Group.  The department is very thankful for their commitment to helping us make improvements to our parks & community.

The VPRD is now trying to finish improvements at the Jaycee Park located on west 4th Street before winter arrives. This will be the second phase of the changes to this park since the destruction that took place a few years back.  If you have any questions or would like to help with projects such as these, contact the VPRD at 472-4164.
