The Benton County Democrats have opened their election headquarters in an unconventional location at the 3-car garage located at countychair Rosemary Schwartz' shome, 603 W 8th St.,Vinton.Volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning and setting up the headquarters in the heated garage.
Local party leaders have also invited all candidates to a meet-and-greet event at the Urbana Community Center on Main Street in Urbana, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The public is invited. Invited candidates include: Patty Judge, U.S. Senate; Monica Vernon, U.S. House; Dennis Mathahs, State Senate; Paula Denison, State House of Representatives; County Supervisor candidates Terry Hertle and Joan Flecksing and Benton County Auditor candidate Vicky Schwenker.
The cook for the meal (free-will offering) is State Fair Cookout Pork champion Brian Halstead.
