An important part of each school year is underway now at Vinton-Shellsburg: Orientation of new teachers.
The district welcomes several new instructors as the 2016-17 school year is about to begin.
At Shellsburg, Tony Church will become the new PE teacher, and Haley Schumann will teach special education and Title 1 classes.
At the Middle School, Kari Russler becomes the art teacher.
Four new teachers have joined the VS High School staff.
Brian Sheston will teach social studies; Annie Carlson will teach English and language arts and at-risk classes. Tony Hamburg and Laura Hammersley will teach special education.
Fritz Burow will teach at the alternative high school at the West campus.
New support staff members include special ed teacher associates Laurie Ortner, Dan Beltz, Sue Blattler and Samantha Voy at Shellsburg; study hall monitor Molly Glynn at VS Middle School, at-risk teacher associate Mia Phelps at the high school, Tilford special ed teacher associate Nicole Trinkle and Tilford custodian Patrick Mehlert.
