The Benton County ISU Extension Office, along with a variety of sponsors, taught farm safety lessons to area teens and children on Saturday.
The annual event at the Benton County Fairgrounds includes lessons on grain safety, the proper use of machinery, basic first aid, how to call 911 and explain the nature of an emergency, fire safety and proper fire extinguisher use, and animal safety. The East Central Iowa REC also uses an electrical safety display that demonstrates the dangers of overhead power lines.

Many other volunteers and businesses offered helpers for the demonstration areas.
