Brian Parr has long been known in Vinton and beyond for the artistic way he handles a chains saw.

Parr and his saw – and his work—were all seen at both Boomfest and Boomtown on Saturday.

At Boomfest in downton Vinton, the Vinton resident used his chainsaws to carve a bear holding a plunger for an explosive. He also created a Boomtown sign, complete with the Vinton Unlimited, IPA and Boomtown names. Also on display was an eagle, also recently carved and finished.

Then later on Saturday, all three of those creations of Parr’s were on display at Boomtown, under the grandstands. The sign welcomed fireworks fans to the race track. Inside the door, the bear and eagle were on display, where they were offered for sale in a silent auction, a fund-raiser for Boomtown.
