Benton County Sheriff's Office personnel continue to investigate a two-vehicle, roll-over accident that injured two people Monday morning near Shellsburg.

According to investigators, a sport-utility vehicle was southbound on 32nd Avenue (the blacktop road that connects Shellsburg and Urbana).

Benton County Sheriff Randy Forsyth said it seems that the SUV went off the edge of the highway, over-corrected and struck the side of the pickup, forcing the pickup to roll into the ditch.

One driver, a male, was taken to Mercy Hospital by air ambulance. The other driver, a female, was taken by ground ambulance.

The investigation continues.

The Shellsburg First Responders and the Shellsburg Fire Department responded to the scene, along with North Benton and Center Point ambulance services.
