The Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service (ICVS or Volunteer Iowa) today released nomination materials for the 2016 Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame. Nominations must be postmarked or e-mailed by Dec. 21; inductees will be recognized during National Volunteer Week next April. Details and nomination materials are online at www.volunteeriowa.org.
“We sincerely believe that ALL volunteers are wonderful treasures who deserve to be recognized,” stated Adam Lounsbury, Executive Director of the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. “We ask the public to help identify Iowans who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to volunteerism and deserve the most prestigious state-level honor volunteers can receive.”
Any Iowa individual, national service member (current or alum), family, group, organization, nonprofit, business, or corporation, actively engaged in volunteer service may be nominated. Since inaugural awards were presented in 1989, 161 names have been added to plaques on permanent display in the State Historical Museum.
The Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame is coordinated by the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. For more information, e-mail icvs@iowa.gov or call 1.800.308.5987.
