News : Area departments respond to fire at Kerry facility in Vinton

Firefighters from several local communities responded to the fire at the Vinton Kerry facility.

Firefighters from Vinton, Garrison and Urbana were sent to the Kerry facility on West First Street in Vinton to battle a fire on Wednesday night. Vinton firemen used their aerial ladder to access the roof, which they cut before spraying with the aerial nozzle.

Vinton Fire Chief Gary McKenna estimated the damage at several hundred thousand dollars. He said that some of the product being made got hot and the fire spread to the structure.

The Vinton Police Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office and North Benton Ambulance responded to the scene.
