There's still time today to go to the Vinton Palace to see the Iowa Hawkeyes on what is perhaps the biggest screen most people have ever watched football.
The Hawkeyes dominated the first half against Eastern Illinois, and the second half will begin shortly at the Palace.
Saturdays in September and beyond are often the favorite day of the week for local guys, as they arrange their schedules to catch the big college football game at home while enjoying their favorite snacks and drinks.
This year, thanks to the digital project at the Vinton Palace, they -- and you -- can enjoy some of those games on the biggest screen you've ever seen them play on.
It all begins this Saturday, Sept. 4, when Iowa hosts Eastern Illinois at 11 a.m.
The BIG GAME -- Iowa vs. Iowa State -- takes place on September 11 at 2:30 pm.
On Sept. 18, Iowa fans can see the Hawkeys play Arizona at 9:30 p.m.
The last weekend of September will feature Iowa State vs. UNI on Sept. 25.
There is no charge for football at the Palace Theatre. However, we do encourage fans to make a generous donation to our Chair Club fund! Imagine watching the big game in brand new stadium seating on the big screen!
Sports fans WILL be allowed to bring in beer, wine and wine coolers
for the game. However, NO hard alcohol or food items will be permitted. The concession stand will be open and will include hotdogs, brats, nachos and pizza.
The Palace can do this, said Gerald Horst, because it purchased the Dish Network Public Viewing Package (such as those purchased by sports bars).
The Palace also has new flags for Iowa, Iowa State and UNI, which will be displayed the day those teams' games are shown at the Palace.
