Take away the temporary fencing and the empty pallettes, and the west wall of the new Benton County Law enforcement would look more like a finished building than the construction site that it currently is.
"It looks darn good," said Jerry Petermeier, the former county engineer who serves as project manager on behalf of the county.
Petermeier made that comment during an update he presented to the Benton County Board of Supervisors during their regular meeting Tuesday morning.
Petermeier said the west side of the building should be ready for the installation of roof joists by Sept. 8.
The county is still in the process of obtaining the $500,000 in funding for the Emergency Operations Center, which will be part of the LEC. But until that funding comes through, work on that section of the building cannot begin.
Petermeier told the supervisors the Benton County Emergency Management Agency director Scott Hansen has been working with FEMA representatives to complete all of the necessary requirements for those funds.
