News : \'Operation Eastern Heat\' Benton County officers conduct traffic program.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office as part of their grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau participated in “Operation Eastern Heat” on Friday August 20th and Saturday August 21, 2010. The focus of this project was the eastern one-half of Iowa where area agencies increased their patrols in an effort to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on Iowa roadways.

Benton County Sheriff Randall Forsyth reports that deputies issued (10) citations and (19) warnings. Deputies made (1) OWI arrest and (16) drug related arrests and served (5) arrest warrants. Deputies also investigated (1) property damage and (1) fatal accident.

Our goal is to reduce accidents through public awareness and proactive enforcement of the traffic laws.
